The African American Museum of Iowa is devoted to preserving African American history and culture. Our mission includes exhibiting and teaching the African American heritage of Iowa. Explore our collection and exhibits that trace Iowa’s African American history from its origins to the present.

The Blank Park Zoo is the only accredited zoo in Iowa and is the home to over 800 animals from around the world. Its mission is to inspire an appreciation of the natural world through conservation, education, research, and recreation.

Brenton Skating Plaza is an outdoor ice skating facility in downtown Des Moines that offers seasonal recreation and aims to create memorable community experiences in a unique riverfront setting.

The Des Moines Children's Museum is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering lifelong learning through the power of play. It offers interactive, hands-on exhibits and programs that encourage creativity, curiosity, and family connection in a safe, inclusive environment.

The Figge Art Museum is a premier cultural destination showcasing one of the Midwest’s finest art collections—including notable holdings in Haitian, American Regionalist, and Spanish Colonial art—and offering diverse exhibitions and educational programs that enrich the community through the power of art.

The Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden is a 12-acre urban oasis in downtown Des Moines, featuring thousands of native and exotic plants across indoor and outdoor gardens. Its mission is to explore, explain, and celebrate the world of plants, offering educational programs and community events that connect people with nature.

​The Grout Museum of History & Science offers permanent and rotating exhibits on local history, regional flora and fauna, and features the only public planetarium in Northeast Iowa. Its mission is to provide understanding of the world through history and science.

The History Center museum is dedicated to preserving and sharing the stories of Linn County's past, connecting people of all ages to the region's present and future. Housed in the historic Douglas Mansion, it offers engaging exhibits and programs that make local history accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

The McCreary Community Building in Perry has a heated six-lane indoor pool with a shallow play area and diving board, sundeck, whirlpool, dry air sauna, personal fitness room, locker rentals, senior citizens room, kitchen, gymnasium. Designated times are provided for open swimming, adult only swimming and family swimming. Sundays are the designated float days. Programs offered at MCB include Pilates, aerobics, yoga, water fitness, swimming lessons, youth sports and more.

The Nelson Pioneer Farm & Museum preserves and interprets the pioneer legacy of Mahaska County through a collection of historic buildings and exhibits. Established on the 1843 homestead of Daniel and Margaret Nelson, the site features 15 historic structures—including the original brick house and barn—and offers visitors a glimpse into 19th- and early 20th-century rural life.

Niabi Zoo serves an education and conservation center that actively works with other programs on field conservation, coordinated breeding programs, and community education to make sure the incredible creatures we share this planet will stay part of the natural world for generations to come.

Opened in 2013, the Perry Grand 3 brings first-run films for the Perry community on three screens with modern digital projection.

The Putnam Museum and Science Center offers unique, immersive, hands-on learning experiences to over 140,000 people each year, including more than 30,000 school/youth group visitors. We exist to preserve our region’s treasures, educate people of all ages in unique and lasting ways, and connect people to each other as they experience science, history, cultures, and environments throughout time and across the globe. 

The Quad Cities Fun Bundle offers access to three of the region’s top attractions: Niabi Zoo, featuring animals from around the world; the Quad City Botanical Center, with its stunning gardens and plant exhibits; and the Putnam Museum & Science Center, where visitors can explore interactive science displays and engaging history exhibits.

Reiman Gardens is a 17-acre public botanical garden located on the Iowa State University campus featuring over 20 themed gardens, a tropical conservatory, and the Christina Reiman Butterfly Wing, which houses up to 800 live butterflies. Its mission is to educate, enchant, and inspire an appreciation of plants, insects, and the beauty of the natural world.

The Sawmill Museum is located in the Lyons District in Clinton, Iowa, along the Mississippi River, Historic Lincoln Highway Byway, and just off the Great River Road. The mission of The Sawmill Museum is to preserve, collect, interpret, and explore the history of America’s sawmill, lumber, and forestry industries. Centered around the story of Clinton, Iowa’s rich lumber history, the museum features dynamic exhibits, programs, and events that explore the history of these industries, their current practices, and future opportunities and challenges.
